Another whole plate study of a sleeping infant, measuring 118 x 184 mm. – the only baby that is an albumenized salt print. The composition may appear odd with the baby seeming about to fall off the table, but it probably represents a preparatory study for a composite picture. Robinson used dark backgrounds to soften the edges of a subject he intended to cut out and paste to a larger composition.
