SIR.—The general system established some years ago for governing the operations of this Department has been continued during the last year. Illustrations of many important cases of Hospital treatment have been added to its records, while the constantly increasing call for its aid as a means of historical record continues to demonstrate its utility and usefulness.

That portion of the work devoted to the illustration of the unknown dead at the Morgue has been continued. Fifty-six cases of this class have been Photographed during the year.

Below will be found a summary of the work done, and the cost incurred.
