Lochman, Charles Leightheiser, 1821-1900.

Bethlehem : s.n., 1873-1897.

Description : [3 l.] p., [44 l.] pl. ; ill.: 88 phot. ; 29 cm.

Photographs : 88 photographs on printed cards.

Photographer : Charles L. Lochman.

Subject : Materia medica — Botanica.

Notes :

The photographs are printed on paper 6 1-2 x 8 1-2 inches (16.5 x 21.7 centimeters), and mounted on cards 9 x 12 inches (23 x 30.5 centimeters), having attached a label giving synonyms, natural order, habitat, time of flowering and medicinal properties.

The photographs are of great value in the lecture room, and the first numbers published have been adopted by a number of Medical and Pharmaceutical Colleges in this country, and by the University of Franc in Europe, as means of describing the medicinal plants. The private student of Botany will also find them very serviceable, and aside from their scientific interest, as works of art, they are very suggestive to the decorative artist.— Leaf page [ii].
